Summary of course: The course addresses the interrelationsip of tourism and regional development. This is done by highlighting the economic, socio-cultural and environmental impacts of tourism in various geographical contexts. Theories of regional development are discussed regarding the role of tourism. Moreover, policy and planning for tourism and regional development are addressed. Practical studies of public tourism policies contribute to improve the students´ understanding of strategic tourism development.
